Culture, the world of entertainment, covid and its impacts…

Regularly on the blog I tell you about my daily life, my passions and also mon (my) trades. Like many professions, we work in entertainment and culture, are particularly affected by this global pandemic which has lasted since March 2021. Aware that we are not the only ones to go through difficult times since 1 an, our activity is almost completely at a standstill.

Many of these actors in the world of culture decide on a daily basis to continue to create and bring live performance to life.. In March I was contacted by a friend, who carried out one of these projects. I had the chance to participate by his side for a day to bring this magnificent short film to life that I want to tell you about.

It & rsquo; is a silent short film, appointed REPORT ! A whole symbol, you tell me…

Here is a small interview with Adrien who is at the origin of this project as well as the link where you will be able to watch the film.. Do not hesitate to share it and talk about it around you. We are nothing without culture.

Hello Adrien, Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your "Postpone" project

Hello ! So Adrien Mourey, professional light designer and manager.

"REPORT ! " was born on 10 February of a desire to talk about this emotion that we have all had within us for a year. This "mood" in which we are. Put in pictures the passionate love that the actors carry (artistes, technicians, administrative and other entertainment professions) from the entertainment and entertainment industry, the importance of this world in our society and the creative distress emanating from the lack of activity

How does the development and production of a short film go?

Two and a half weeks after the idea, filming began. We had to assemble a team (around fifteen technicians and professional stage managers from the entertainment world as well as some volunteers from the Scène Sur Loing association), make a story board and cut out, find the material, redecorate spaces, find the places and have the agreements, establish schedules… .etc… In short, a whole organization to be able to run during 10 days in all. 4 days in my apartment, and the rest in theaters and places of culture in the South Seine et Marne (cinema, Nemours prehistory museum, Fontainebleau municipal theater, Café Thalie Theater), we also had the chance to shoot at the Zénith in Paris.

It was a real challenge in terms of planning but also in terms of competence. We were all amateur volunteers. I had never done a directing for example, it was extremely formative. We all learned a lot on this shoot.

Après le tournage vient la post production : video montage, music composition, making his, sound editing, sound mixing and image calibration. 1 month of post production. Once again an extremely tight schedule, pour un travail passionnant !

According to you, what impact has covid had on the world of culture ?

Culture has been on hiatus for a year. Une société sans culture est ce possible ? Isn't that what holds us, ce qui nous lie ? N’est ce pas une grande partie de notre passé mais aussi de notre avenir ?

Culture makes us travel, makes us feel emotions, makes us dream, without her the world really wouldn't be as we know it. This crisis has done a lot of harm to the culture worker, the political management of all this is certainly questionable, le hashtag « #laissezmoi » exprime très bien d’ailleurs ce que je pense de la gestion politique de cette crise par rapport à la culture.

What message do you want to deliver through this film ?

There are several things. But what I want above all is to convey an emotion. Transmit this love for the culture that we have but also this distress that we feel. To understand and feel this emotion was my goal.

Then I tackle several other themes such as loneliness, the blank page and the screen society.

The future you hope for Postpone ?

Je souhaite que REPORTEZ ! be seen by more, not to spread our work but to spread this emotion, and also this score optimizes to the greatest number. Culture is here and will always be there. The magic, the dream, the cries, laughs, the adventure is stronger than all that.

I never made a plan for the future, j’improvise, because the plan for the future was to make this short film and it's done.
